It will be a busy day in Boston as the city prepares for the 130th Boston Marathon and the Red Sox‘s annual Patriots’ Day game at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox are expected to turn to veteran right-hander Sonny Gray, who is hoping to bounce back after a rough start in Minnesota last week. The Tigers will send out Jack Flaherty and look to win their third straight road game.
Can Boston secure a win on Monday and move up in the AL East standings before a pivotal rivalry series against the Yankees?

Red Sox vs. Tigers live updates, highlights from 2026 Patriots’ Day game
1:53 p.m.: Jones was ruled safe at first on a grounder, but after an Alex Cora challenge that call has been overturned.
There’s a runner on second with two outs and Vierling coming up.
End of the seventh inning: Red Sox 6, Tigers 3
1:49 p.m.: The Red Sox can’t add on anything else in the seventh, but they took a convincing lead thanks to a three-spot.
Heading to the eighth, Boston is six outs away from a Patriots day win.

1:43 p.m.: Boston adds on another run in the seventh, with Narvaez reaching on an infield single. While Torres scooped the grounder, his throw was in the dirt and couldn’t be scooped by Keith.
Then, Anthony gets walked, and there are runners on first and second with two outs. The Red Sox have a chance to blow the game open.

1:40 p.m.: In the seventh inning on Opening Day, Rafaela gave the Red Sox the lead with a RBI single, the first run of the season. Fast forward to today, he just gave the Red Sox the lead again.
With the bases loaded, Rafaela hits an opposite field single past first base, driving two runs home. While Durbin gets thrown out at the plate, it’s a two-run single for the Red Sox center fielder. It gives Boston a 5-3 lead.
1:38 p.m.: The bases are loaded with one out after Kiner-Filefa grounds the ball to Torres, but the second baseman’s throw is too late to third.
Coming up to the plate for the Red Sox is Ceddanne Rafaela, who didn’t start today, but has come up big in critical situations early in the season.
1:34 p.m.: Boston has the first two runners on in the seventh, with Yoshida’s leadoff single and Story’s walk setting up a big at-bat for Isaiah Kiner-Filefa, who comes into the game to pinch hit.
1:31 p.m.: Garrett Whitlock comes into the game in the top of the seventh and pitches a 1-2-3 inning, getting McGonigle to fly out, Torres to line out and Keith to ground out.
In 12 pitches, the releiver quickly retires the side, sending us to the bottom of the seventh.
End of the sixth inning: Tigers 3, Red Sox 3
1:24 p.m.: The Red Sox tie the game but can’t do anything else in the sixth, stranding Anthony at second.
Two thirds through the game, we’re tied at three. It’s set for a thrilling finish at Fenway Park.

1:19 p.m.: Roman Anthony has made it a tie game.
The Boston star takes a pitch right down the middle and drills it to center field, bringing Narvaez home from third; the RBI single makes the game 3-3 as the teams continue to go back-and-forth.

It’s Anthony’s fourth RBI of the season.
1:17 p.m.: Boston has a runner in scoring position, with Narvaez hitting a double to left field. With one out in the inning, Anthony comes up looking to tie the game.
1:12 p.m.: It’s three straight striekouts for Weissert, who comes in and gets the Red Sox out of the jam. That could have been a lot worse, but the Boston reliever came up big in a must-get situation.
Now, the Red Sox head to the bottom of the sixth looking to even the score or take the lead.
1:11 p.m.: With runners on the corners, Weissert gets a huge first out, getting Vierling to strike out swinging.
Then, he gets the second out on Lee, also a strikeout.

1:06 p.m.: The Tigers have taken their first lead today.
With two runners on, Jahmai Jones hits a single to center, bringing home Greene and giving the Tigers a 3-2 lead. It also forces a pitching change for Boston, with Greg Weissert coming into the game.

End of the fifth inning: Tigers 2, Red Sox 2
12:57 p.m.: Now, the Tigers pitch a quick inning, getting Story, Duran and Durbin to go down in order. For the first time since the first inning, both teams were scoreless.
It’s 2-2 heading to the sixth.
12:51 p.m.: It’s a 1-2-3 inning for Boston in the fifth, with Keith grounding out to second.
We head to the bottom of the fifth, with Story, Duran and Durbin coming up to the plate.
End of the fourth inning: Tigers 2, Red Sox 2
12:45 p.m.: Yoshida can’t drive anyone home, lining out to center.
The Red Sox are scoreless since the second inning, while the Tigers have scored a run in the third and fourth to make it a tie game heading to the fifth.
12:42 p.m.: Now, there are runners on the corners with two otus, with Abreu grounding out to second.
Yoshida is coming up to the plate with a chance to take back Boston’s lead.
12:35 p.m.: Boston has two runners on with no outs, with both Narvaez and Anthony walking.
Coming up is Contreras, who is 1-for-2 today.

12:07 p.m.: Coloumbe gets Keith to ground out to second, ending the top of the third.

11:37 a.m.: Boston has runners on the corners.
After a Durbin walk, Mayer singles and Durbin goes all the way to third. It’s a prime opportunity to score the first run of the day.
11:32 a.m.: It’s a 1-2-3 inning for Gray in the second, getting Kerry Carpenter to fly out to retire the side.
Due up in the bottom of the inning for Boston is Jarren Duran, Caleb Durbin and Marcelo Mayer.
End of the first inning: Tigers 0, Red Sox 0
11:25 a.m.: With two runners on and two outs, Trevor Story blasts a ball right to the Green Monster, but Riley Greene makes an acrobatic play to perfectly time the catch. It ends the inning, and the Red Sox strand two runners on.
Through one inning, the game is scoreless.
11:20 a.m.: The Red Sox are on base courtesy of Contreras, who lines a single to third base and off the glove of Hao-Yu Lee.
The Boston offense is in business.
11:16 a.m.: After the leadoff hit, Gray gets out of the inning in seven pitches, with Colt Keith flying out to center.
