With WWDC just a week away, Apple is still working on perfecting iOS 26 and macOS 26. With the beta for 26.6 in testing, Apple has has just released a small point release to target critical bugs in its latest hardware. iOS 26.5.1 fixes a charging bug that impacts only iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, while macOS 26.5.1 addresses a shutdown bug on Macs with M5 processors that primarily impacts enterprise users.

The release notes for iOS 26.5.1 state: “This update addresses an issue for a small number of users that may prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly drained.” The release notes for macOS 26.5.1 state: “This update addresses an issue for enterprise users where Mac computers with an M5 chip could unexpectedly shut down when using certain content-filtering network extensions.”
