At the start of next week, members of the Golden State Warriors will return to the Bay Area to mark the start of the 2025-26 campaign with media day at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Following media day, the Warriors will begin training camp with the preseason opener around the corner.
Before officially reconvening in the Bay Area, the Warriors will reportedly be on the court together in San Diego this week. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Jimmy Butler is leading a team workout minicamp in San Diego. While most members of the Warriors are expected to be in attendance, one player reportedly won’t be there.
While his contract stalemate has extended deep into the offseason, Jonathan Kuminga won’t be joining his teammates in San Diego for Butler’s minicamp, per Charania. Kuminga is the only player on the Warriors’ potential 2025-26 roster not attending the offseason workout.

Kuminga, a restricted free agent, has spent most of the summer negotiating a new contract with the Warriors. His stalemate with the Warriors has reportedly continued into September due to a player option versus team option situation in contract offers. Kuminga is seeking a player option in contract offers from the Warriors.
Kuminga could also accept a $7.9 million qualifying offer with the Warriors, making him an unrestricted free agent next season. The 22-year-old forward has until Oct. 1 to accept the qualifying offer with Golden State.
