Micah's takeaways from Caleb Williams and Bears' second crunch-time win in a row

The Chicago Bears are still continuing to get creative in how they win. It has not been easy on their fans. On a day when the New York Giants looked like the better team, there were many lowlights for the Bears. One of the bright spots, however, was Caleb Williams coming up big in crunch time again. He put the team on his back to deliver a huge victory.

Here are my takeaways from the Bears’ comeback win versus the Giants on Sunday:

Caleb Williams is an evolving clutch quarterback in the NFL

The Bears moved on from Justin Fields because, in the end, he was not the answer as a passer, nor was he the reason for the Bears winning games. Caleb Williams has ice in his veins. You cannot count out Caleb’s Bears. Many probably did Sunday, but Caleb Williams scored 14 points in 4 minutes. So far this season, Caleb has 670 yards passing, 5 total touchdowns, 1 interception, and a 100 passer rating in fourth quarters. He may have some ups and downs in the first three quarters, but once it is time to win the football game, Caleb Williams is lights out.

D’Andre Swift took back his role as RB1

D’Andre Swift, in his return, got the bulk of the carries and was very productive. His stats were a little bit inflated, but he managed to have 80 yards rushing on 13 carries. He also got 8 targets but was only able to haul in 5 catches for 18 yards. Swift is a big-time playmaker for the Bears, and it is nice to see him be healthy and make plays. Monangai only got 7 carries after his last performance, which does not make sense to me. Monangai was able to find the endzone, but this should be more of a very close split share between both backs.

Olamide Zaccheaus needs to be benched

The Bears had the most drops in an NFL game this season. A big chunk of that came from Olamide Zaccheaus. His drops were not only discouraging, but they took points off the board. Zaccheaus, at times, is a player with great yac ability, but he has been disappointing this season. His role should be reduced after Sunday’s performance. Luther Burden, in the little bit of opportunity he has gotten, has shown great flashes. He only got 3 catches Sunday, and he turned it into 51 yards. Burden needs to become more involved in this offense, and the way Ben Johnson could do that is by swapping him with Zacchaeus.

Rome Odunze proved he still is a top receiver in the NFL

Rome Odunze made sure to thank his dad after his big game. Rome got the ball for a 9-yard gain on the first play of this game. That jump-started him to having a 6 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown performance. After a couple of disappointing games, Rome, in this game, once again was one of the Bears’ best players. When Rome is on his game, it translates directly to Caleb playing confidently and being at his best. This offense will at times be centered around these two, so it is nice seeing Rome put up an impressive day once again.

Montez Sweat will have a double-digit sack season

Last season, in a very down year, Montez Sweat had 5.5 sacks in 16 games. He dealt with injuries all season, but he still was not able to be a factor. This season, we are seeing the Montez Sweat that changed the Bears’ defense around after Ryan Poles traded for him. So far Sweat in 9 games has 5.5 sacks. Sweat has 4.5 sacks over the last 4 games. Dennis Allen has really unlocked him, and Sweat being healthy has helped tremendously. It is nice to see Sweat even wearing off on Austin Booker. Booker had 5 pressures Sunday and a sack, forced fumble versus the Bengals. The Bears might finally have their pass rush duo.
