The Los Angeles Rams haven’t need a lot from their 2025 rookie class, but second-round pick Terrance Ferguson has come on strong in recent weeks.
Ferguson had his best performance of his young career in Week 16 when he caught three of four targets for 33 yards and a touchdown. He has nine receptions for 177 yards and two touchdowns this year, including seven first downs.
While those numbers aren’t stratospheric, Ferguson’s continued development has been noticed by head coach Sean McVay. After the Week 16 loss, McVay called Ferguson’s growth “steady” and that he’s “really excited about how bright his future is.”
“He’s so coachable. He’s secure enough to be able to acknowledge the areas that he can improve,” McVay added. “I think he has great examples of these veterans around him of being able to see what it looks like to do right. He’s getting a bunch of experience.
“You guys have heard me say it all the time, ‘Repetition is the mother of learning.’ He’s playing a lot of meaningful snaps and in some big-time games and some big-time atmospheres. That’s only going to continue to serve him well. I think the best is yet to come for him like I’ve talked to you guys about.”
The veterans McVay is talking about are the three tight ends ahead of Ferguson — Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen. All three have ample NFL experience and have proven to be solid contributors in different areas of the field for the Rams. With Higbee on injured reserve, Ferguson has been able to see more work on the offense. That experience will only continue to increase as his career progresses.
After starting the year on and off of the active roster, Ferguson seems to be catching on just in time for the postseason.
