Raiders strength coach son of Jon Gruden breaks power lifting record

Jon Gruden may have been forced to resign as the Raiders head coach four years ago, but the team didn’t have to clean the Gruden name out of the organization. Gruden’s son Deuce was brought in as the strength coach under Jon and has remained ever since. And when you see what he just did, you can see why.

Deuce benched a whopping 483 pounds at the Nationals to set a new powerlifting record for his weight class and his dad couldn’t be more proud.

Those who have seen the Raiders sideline the past eight years have no doubt noted the short and stocky Deuce. The 5’6″ mighty mite appears even shorter when standing next to some of the towering NFL players. A recent example was a shot of him next to Raiders 6’8″ left tackle Kolton Miller.

You can see why he is around as the strength coach. None of the Raiders players are going to outlift him. So, they are a lot more likely to listen to him when he tries to help them get stronger. Because no one is beating him in terms of his size to strength ratio. But he will give the players something to aspire to.
