For most of you, this isn’t the first rodeo in terms of a Philadelphia Eagles‘ offseason. Heads are on swivels like they were when the Seth Joyners and Jeremiah Trotter Seniors of the world patrolled the defense’s second level.
Some moves are expected. There is also a sense that no one knows what’s coming. That’s what makes this time of the offseason process so interesting.
Did you notice the word we used there? Offseason… It almost hurts to say it. Philadelphia’s season ended much sooner than any of us expected, but now that it has, most have asked the same questions. Why did it end? How did this team get here? What must they do to avoid being back in this same situation next season?
Those questions keep leading us back to the same discussions: Nick Sirianni, Kevin Patullo, Jalen Hurts, and A.J. Brown. You’re not alone if you share the same mindset. Just flip on the radio or television. You’ll find like-minded people. They’re having the same conversations on ESPN all the time.
Marcus Spears and Jason Kelce discuss Kevin Patullo in unflattering terms.
Philadelphia’s Wild Card exit was its third in five seasons under Nick Sirianni. Each one has been more disappointing than its predecessor. The first loss can be explained. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were truly the better team in January 2022. Another loss to Tampa two years later was the exclamation point to a late-season collapse.
There’s truly no excuse this time around. The Eagles‘ offense was limited all season, but they faced a battered San Francisco 49ers defense. An offense featuring this much weaponry should have found its traction. Instead, things bottomed out. Cue the discussions about Kevin Patullo.
A fan base is hurting. The media that covers this team is frustrated. Those frustrations have reached national platforms. Dan Orlovsky’s simmering takes were met with additional fire from Marcus Spears, but the always authentic Spears took things one step further.
“Kevin Patullo’s ass needs to be gone.”

Jason Kelce offered his thoughts during the pregame broadcast ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers–Houston Texans game on Monday Night Countdown.
“[The Eagles] had their chances to win that game yesterday, and the players didn’t make the plays!”@JasonKelce acknowledges the coaching issues throughout the year, but holds the players accountable for losing against the 49ers 😳 pic.twitter.com/EiBdITdGXs

Keep those heads on swivels. Again, this isn’t our first rodeo. News can break at any time, but Adam Schefter’s recent update added fuel to the fire. Kevin Patullo may have coached his final game as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator.
