Ken Walker joined Terrell Davis in this Super Bowl feat

When it comes to Super Bowl MVP, running backs have gotten the short end of the stick. Since Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis won Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl XXXII, 18 quarterbacks, five wide receivers, one safety and two linebackers have won the individual honor.

In Super Bowl LX, Seattle Seahawks running back Ken Walker III became the first running back since Davis to win Super Bowl MVP. Walker totaled 135 yards on 27 carries, plus two receptions for 27 yards, but no scores (he had a long touchdown run nullified by a penalty). Seattle easily handled the New England Patriots in a 29-13 win.

When he was a Bronco, Davis was instrumental in helping Denver win their first Super Bowl title in 1997, rushing 30 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns, which is still a single-game record for rushing scores. Davis also added two receptions for eight yards.

Davis went on to rush for more than 2,000 yards in 1998, culminating in another Super Bowl title. Davis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2017.

Davis and Walker are part of an exclusive club of running backs and fullbacks to win MVP. There are eight total rushers to ever win Super Bowl MVP: running backs Walker (LX), Davis (XXXII), Emmitt Smith (XXVIII), Ottis ‘OJ’ Anderson (XXV), Marcus Allen (XVIII), and fullbacks John Riggins (XVII), Franco Harris (IX) and Larry Csonka (VIII) — those “fullbacks” had heavy workloads as runners.

Can the Broncos find their running back in 2026, and get back to the big game? Time will tell.
