Pacers All-Star forward Pascal Siakam scored a combined 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting in two 12-minute games in the new All-Star Game tournament at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, but his World squad lost both and was eliminated before the championship.
The World lost the first game 37-35 to the USA Stars team on a 3-pointer by Raptors forward Scottie Barnes in overtime. Siakam was 2 of 4 from the floor with a rebound and an assist, scoring on two layups including one that was a finish on a lob.
Siakam was 3 of 3 from the floor for six points with two layups and a dunk in the World’s second game, but the USA Stripes team defeated them 48-45 thanks to a spectacular effort from Siakam’s former Raptors teammate Kawhi Leonard. Leonard scored 31 points on 11 of 13 shooting, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range and also made three free throws. He also recorded three rebounds and two steals including one on a pass from Siakam that he took the distance for a fast-break layup. The World still kept it close thanks to 19 points from Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, but Leonard hit a three with 3.5 seconds to go to put the game away.
This was Siakam’s fourth All-Star appearance. He entered the All-Star break averaging 23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season for the Pacers, earning the All-Star nod despite Indiana’s 15-40 record. He appeared in 51 of the Pacers’ 55 games, scored in double figures in all 51 and scored at least 20 points in 40 of the 51.
