Rich Beem has taken to social media in reaction to the release of Alan Shipnuck’s new book: Rory: The Heartache and Triumph of Golf’s Most Human Superstar.

Interestingly, McIlroy had nothing to do with the book.

He distanced himself from the process and told Shipnuck the two reasons why.

McIlroy said: “You f**ked Phil … I’m not going to make the same mistake.” And, “it p**ses me off that you’re making money off my name, as quoted by The Irish Times.

Phil Mickelson famously came across poorly in Shipnuck’s biography of his life in 2022.

Starting on Thursday, McIlroy will begin the defence of his Masters title, following his victory at Augusta National last year.

The 36-year-old completed the career Grand Slam with his win at The Masters, and took his fame to a whole new level in the process.

As a result of McIlroy’s stardom, Shipnuck’s biography on McIlroy is almost guaranteed to be a best seller.

Former PGA Tour player and 2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem has questioned the release date of the McIlroy book.

He took to his official X account on Tuesday and posted a somewhat cryptic message.

Isn’t it amazingly odd (profitable) that a book about Rory McIlroy came out today? Beem said.

The author is obviously keen on showing amazing skills on research.

Beem clearly thinks that Shipnuck’s book has been released this week in order to maximize potential profit.

And if you’re Shipnuck, why wouldn’t you be trying to do that?

Book release an added irritant during Masters week for Rory McIlroy

It must be said, Shipnuck’s book being released on April 7th, just two days before the start of The Masters was clearly not a coincidence.

McIlroy wasn’t even happy about the idea of the book in the first place.

So he surely would not have been overjoyed about the book being released during Masters week.

The Northern Irishman already has more attention on him than any other player at Augusta National this week.

And Alan Shipnuck’s biography of the 2025 Masters champion being released on Tuesday will only have added to the attention he is receiving right now.
