Unlike every other streaming service out there, Apple TV subscribers sign up for one thing: original programming. However, this week, Apple TV users got a surprise in their Apple TV tab. Along with “Ted Lasso,” “Cape Fear,” and “Widow’s Bay,” subscribers now have access to more than a dozen popular movies.
This isn’t the first time Apple has randomly offered a collection of “Great Movies” for subscribers. However, while previous offerings have been labeled “limited,” this offer doesn’t have any indication that it’s available for a short time. The titles available have a “Just Added” label and are accessible in the first row in the TV app.
In the U.S., these are the titles that are available for streaming:
- 21 Jump Street
- Arrival
- The Aviator
- A Beautiful Mind
- The Bourne Identity
- Charlie’s Angels
- E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
- Forgetting Sarah Marshall
- Gone Girl
- I, Robot
- Looper
- The Martian
- Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol
- The Proposal
- The Rookie
- The Sixth Sense
- Titanic
- Zodiac
- Zoolander
As it’s unclear whether this is a limited-time offer or a long-term deal, if you’re interested in watching any of these titles, you should probably do so sooner rather than later. There’s no accompanying press release to announce the movies, nor is there any indication to why these particular titles were chosen. Outside the North American region, the movie selection is more limited, likely due to licensing restrictions.
