I like to calculate presidential election results in all 435 congressional districts and track special elections, incumbent primary defeats, and candidate debates. I’ll probably watch more than 2,000 TV ads this election so you don’t have to.

The 2026 primary cycle wrapped up with some striking developments: a historically large number of incumbents lost their primaries, redistricting continued to reshape the electoral map, Democrats showed signs of stronger voter enthusiasm in many contests, and several closely watched races tested the strength of President Trump’s endorsements.

I’ve been reporting on these trends throughout the year and examining what they might mean for control of Congress and key races across the country.
