iOS 27 has finally delivered on the new Siri promise Apple made back in 2024, but many people who were persuaded to buy an iPhone 16 at the time by ads touting the feature still feel cheated that it took so long. If you’re one of them, you can collect a check from Apple for your troubles.
Back in May, Apple agreed to pay $250m to settle a class-action lawsuit over deceptive marketing related to the debut of Apple Intelligence in 2024. Plaintiffs argued that Apple’s ads led to people buying iPhones back then that didn’t deliver on its promises and Apple settled rather than take the issue to court.
As a result, anyone who bought an iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro in the U.S. between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, is eligible for a cash payment of at least $25 per device with a maximum payment of $95 per device. As is usual with class-action payouts, the allotment “may be increased or decreased pro rata depending on the total number of valid claims submitted and Eligible Devices claimed.”
You may have already received an email about the settlement, which includes a Claim ID and PIN for filing. If you haven’t received one, you may still file a claim, but you’ll need your original iPhone’s serial number.
Payments won’t be distributed before February 24, 2027, when the Final Approval hearing will be held.
