Hi, folks! Michelle Cottle, Tressie McMillan Cottom and Jessica Grose here. As writers for Times Opinion, we’ve been covering the Trump administration and its policy and culture shifts that affect women, as well as the women who play a part in these shifts. In a new format for r/politics, we’re holding a live discussion here about the past, present and future of conservative women, guided by your questions and contributions.

A bit about each of our participants:

Michelle has written about national politics for Times Opinion since 2018. She has analyzed Republican women who have attempted to defy Trump, like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Anna Paulina Luna, and those who stayed loyal to the president, like Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi.

Tressie has been a columnist for Times Opinion since 2022, and she writes about sociology, pop culture and politics. She’s written about how the MAHA movement prioritizes beauty over health, Trump’s betrayal of “MAGA moms,” the revolt against A.I.-loving girlbosses and the meaning of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation.

Jessica has written for Times Opinion since 2021, largely focusing on family, religion and education. In her weekly newsletter, she has discussed JD Vance’s crusade against single mothers, bipartisan hatred of femininity, the regressive aims of the Heritage Foundation and why women are the biggest losers in Trump’s economy.
