Adam Bradford revisits Week 6 Big Ten football game predictions

Last week, I attempted to pick every Big Ten game in Week 6 of the college football season. This week, we had six conference games and one nonconference contest. (Whose idea was it to have Northwestern play Louisiana Monroe the first weekend of October?)

So how did my picks fare? Let’s take a look and see:

Michigan over Wisconsin

“Wisconsin legitimately might be the worst Big Ten team not named UCLA.”

Wisconsin legitimately might be the worst Big Ten team, period (more on why later).

Record: 1-0

Illinois over Purdue

“Purdue lost to USC at home. That should tell you all that you need to know about them.”

Purdue actually led 7-0 after one quarter before allowing 24 unanswered points as Illinois cruised in this one.

Record: 2-0

Penn State over UCLA

“As bad as James Franklin is against top ten opponents, he is equally good at blowing out bad teams. And in case you had not noticed, UCLA is a very bad team.”

I legitimately do not have the words to describe this one. This was the most stunning result that I have seen in any sport—not just college football—in quite some time.

Record: 2-1

Maryland over Washington

“This may very well be the most exciting game of the week in the Big Ten.”

This was quite possibly the best game of the weekend that no one was paying attention to. If football games were 45 minutes long, my Maryland pick would have hit. Unfortunately for me (and for the Terrapins), however, football games are 60 minutes long.

Record: 2-2

“Other than both being college football coaches, David Braun and Nick Saban have essentially nothing in common. That remains the case this week, as Braun avoids the loss to Louisiana Monroe that Saban infamously suffered back in 2007.”

I still have no idea who decided to play this game this weekend, but the Wildcats will take any win that they can get.

Record: 3-2

Nebraska over Michigan State

“The questions are going to start getting louder for whichever head coach loses this game.”

The questions are in fact starting to get louder for Jonathan Smith over Michigan State.

Record: 4-2

Ohio State over Minnesota

“The only way that Ohio State loses this game is if they accidentally show up to the stadium wearing USC uniforms.”

The Buckeyes showed up wearing their own uniforms and won 42-3.

Overall Record: 5-2

Overall performance

For the most part, this was a good week for me. Sure, I missed on the upset in Pasadena, but let’s be real, did anyone see that coming?

For what it’s worth, I picked UCLA to win each of the past three weeks, and they lost. This week, I picked them to lose, and they won. For the sake of the Trojan Family, I might need to go back to picking them to win.
