Redshirt senior safety Bishop Fitzgerald has been having an impressive season for the USC football team. Through nine games, Fitzgerald has a team-high five interceptions, including a pick six. He also has three passes defended, 49 total tackles, and a sack. Fitzgerald has a nose for the ball and has a knack for being in the right spot at the right time.
Last week, semifinalists were announced for the Jim Thorpe Award, presented annually to the top defensive back in all of college football. Fitzgerald was included on the list of 15 semifinalists.
Fitzgerald transferred to USC from North Carolina State, where he played the past two seasons. Prior to that, he started his college football career at the community college level.
USC’s transfer portal class from this past offseason has been a bit of a mixed bag. However, Fitzgerald has been one of the biggest success stories of the class. He has been having a great season for the Trojans, and the country is beginning to take notice.
